Pius VSt. Pius V, Pray for Us

Today is the feast of Pope St. Pius V. He was Pope from 1566 to 1572 and was very important in the history of liturgical reform. He created the famous Missal of Pius V which was in use for 400 years up to the time of the Second Vatican Council. Believe it or not, the Missal of Pius V was a “simplification” of the liturgy that removed many complicated rubrics.

The above picture is of the incorrupt body of the saint which rests in the Blessed Sacrament chapel of the basilica of Santa Maria Maggiore in Rome.
