Homily 465 – Power, Passion, and Presence – Good Friday

by Shawn P. Tunink

We spend a lot of our time trying to gain power and be in control. We don’t want to suffer and so we try to use power to maximize pleasure and avoid pain. Jesus shows us a different way. He has all the power, but chooses to humble himself. He chooses to to suffer and willingly enters his passion for us. He does this because he wants us to be with him forever in heaven and wants us to know his presence right now. This gift is so amazing that it allows us to call this day “good.”
